Oh Buffalo, You break my heart!!!!!!!

What is there to say. The Bills are officially not good at all. The chances of them going to the Playoffs is extremely thin. They are now 6-6. That is incredible, in a bad way, when considering that they started off the season 4-0. I maintain that the Bills need a new head coach because Dick Jaron is definitely a huge part of the problem. He is way too mellow and relaxed. Football is not a game that requires a person to be lax. It is a game of physicality and intensity and therefore the head coach should reflect those qualities as he coaches. Also, our quarterback situation is worsening as well. Trent Edwards began the season much improved from the 07'-08' campaign. But, after he took a hard blow to the head, during the Arizona defeat, he has not been the same. He just doesn't seem very sharp anymore. His passes are not crisp and accurate and his decisions seem to take much longer than before. I do believe that he can get back to good form though. One positive aspect of the team lately is our running game. Marshawn Lynch has been running extremely hard and has gone over 100 yards at least a couple times in the past four games. Furthermore, Fred Jackson has also looked good in the running game. But, our passing game is weak and our ability to score in the redzone is virtually non-existent. So, I will say one more time-Lets get rid of Dick Jaron and get a coach with some fire and a strong desire to win. Someone who will motivate and who will get mad if bad things happen. Instead of just going with the flow and looking towards the future all the time. People say that the players like him, well of course they like him because he doesn't yell at them or discipline them. Little do they know, they are being sold short by the lack of intense coaching.

The Buffalo Bills have become a huge disappointment this season. Your right, they did so well in the beginning of the season, and now they've become 6-6! I don't know too much in depth about the team or the coach, but I do agree that a bad coach can hurt a team. If you’re not leading your players in the right direction then they have nothing to play for. The hundreds of thousands of fans and the money are great perks, but what’s it worth if you step on the field and get destroyed game after game. It all begins from the coach who needs to motivate his players and contribute constructive criticism.

I'm a Colts fan, but I still feel for the Bills fans. The Colts aren't doing that great this season either, but I think they have an awesome coach. So that kind of makes me think that it isn't all of the coaches fault, but they definitely affect the team and their performance. Maybe a new Bills coach will give them the motivation they need.
Being a coach in the NFL is really high status, do you know how they go through the process of picking new coaches? (I don't know too much about football haha)

I was scrolling through your blog and you can see the frustration grow through your posts, lol. You start very optimistic...and that begins to slowly shift. I've never been much of a football person, but when I found myself at school in Fredonia, and therefore Bills mania, I thought I'd give them a try. However, I found them to up and down for my taste, although I guess that's what gives a Buffalo Bills fan such heart. What do you think the Bills need to pick themselves up? New coach...new management...or is it all about the players?

Janelle, I am glad that you see what I am talking about. It is very aggravating to see a coach that puts out this kind of a product week after week, and then just basically shrugs his shoulders after. He never gets angry or even says that they are going to change anything

Lisa, yeah Tony Dungy is the Colts coach and he is one of the better coaches in the NFL. Also, the Colts started off bad, but they are doing pretty well now. I believe they are 9-4 now. They are probably going to get a wildcard position which means they will make the playoffs. In addition, I know a little bit about the process of picking a new coach. Many times coordinators(coaches already apart of the team)are interviewed for head coaching openings. Also, other head coaches, who have proven themselves in the past, are interviewed. Sometimes, college coaches are interviewed for pro jobs and finally, other coaches who are rising stars. But, usually there are about two or three main coaches that are brought in for extensive interviews and they meet with the team owners, and they meet with the team president,nd other high officials. Usually it is fairly extensive interviewing. Finally, the owner, typically, has the final say. Sometimes the owner designates this power to the General Manager. Then, whoever they choose is signed to a contract, just like the players are.

Kayla, haha, yeah I know my blog is a testament to the frustrations of being a true Bills fan. I believe that the Bills need a new head coach, first and foremost. Also, they definitely need some new players on their offensive and defensive lines. Furthermore, they need a new owner who will put the right people in place, so that management will choose the right coaches and players. But, if the Bills do get a new owner, after Ralph Wilson,(who is extremely old by the way)passes, than it will almost certainly mean that the team will be moved to a different city because their just isn't enough revenue around Buffalo anymore and nobody here wants, or if they do, has the money to buy an NFL team. Plus, it doesn't make a very good case for the Bills, when they have done so poorly in the past ten years.

Joe, the Buffalo Bills won't go anywhere with Dick Jaron, you're right. Unfortunately, Ralph Wilson isn't interested in throwing big money at a proven coach, and instead we'll either be looking at someone new to the head coaching position or someone who hasn't found success running their package in another city; and we begin the gamble again.

My opinion was to toss Jaron out the door after the fiasco at the end of last years Monday Night game against the Cowboys. It was -impossible- to lose that game if he played the clock down. And we managed to lose it.

The only upswing I can see from shipping some of our games out to Toronto is that it saves the fans from some of the humiliation of losing at home and puts a little extra cash in the coffers. Hopefully our GM will use it to invest in a worthwhile head coach.

I must say, it is pretty sweet being a Miami Dolphins fan this year. Beside the fact that everyone hates me, it has been a tremendous year for my Dolphins. With that win over Buffalo on Sunday, they now move to 8-5 and have a share of 1st place in the division.

I will admit though, it is hard to watch buffalo crumble like this. At the beginning of the season, I thought I was going to have to drop out of school and leave Western NY because of all the Super Bowl talk. Then the great downfall of the 2008 season began and the Bills showed their true colors.

I gotta say, Dick needs to go. He isn't much of a head coach, he shows no enthusiasm. Buffalo has the most enthusiastic fans in the league, the coach just doesn't fit.

I will wish your Bills good luck this weekend while playing the Jets, I hate the Jets.

Tough season thats for sure. Lynch is an absolute animal...I would love to see what a man of his talent could do behind a well rounded offensive line and a QB that can also throw the ball. His def. a positive aspect of this team.

As far at old DICKY J...didn't he just re-sign with the bills at the beginnig of the season?

Would you happen to know how long they signed him for? Not a good sign...I completly disagree with resigning coaches in the middle of the season...for this exact reason!

I was sitting in class earlier this semester when the Bills were 4-0. Jokingly, I stated that I believed the Bills were still going to finish 5-11. Everyone laughed.

We had no idea, huh?

We all seem to be in agreement with the status of the Bills and the direction in which their headed. They are goinng to be right back in a similar position next year, if they don't make some fundamentnal changes this offseason. They need new ownership, and that will most likely result in relocation. Its too bad because I have loved this team for a long time. Everyweek they trick me into watching them again and again.

I love watchin lynch but man is it getting painful to watch these games. My housemate is the most die-hard Bills fan I know, and don't even try talkin to him on a sunday nowadays. Glad I didn't try to get cable to for this season.
